(i) United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation

The Committee took note of the activities of the Programme carried out in 2004, as set out in the report of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee (A AC.105 848, paras.

The laboratory and scientific programme is a cross cutting core programme of UNODC, contributing to enhancing national capacity for drug testing and the quality of scientific support provided to national criminal justice systems and health services.

Through its Standing Committee on the Antarctic Treaty System, the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research will continue to bring key scientific issues to the attention of the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meetings.

Noting also the deep concern of the Scientific Committee that reliance on a single post at the Professional level in its secretariat has left the Committee seriously vulnerable and has hampered the efficient implementation of its approved programme of work,

The Russian committee for the international scientific research programme is conducting experiments aboard the European Integral space laboratory for continued observation and study of X ray and gamma radiation from space sources.
