Three countries have submitted reports for the first time since ratifying the Convention.

All of the ratifying states are in Europe and Central Asia.

Internationally, Bhutan has ratified the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism.

The Convention will enter into force when it has been ratified by 30 countries. So far, it has been signed by 111 countries, six of which have ratified it.

On 29 November 2004 Ethiopia announced that it had ratified the Convention.

On 14 December 2004, Mauritius ratified the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism.

Thailand has ratified Convention No. 100, as well as Conventions Nos. 29, 105, 122, 138 and 182.

3. The present Protocol shall be open to accession by any State that has ratified or acceded to the Convention.

Paraguay had ratified the Convention, however, and its provisions therefore took precedence over national law and must be applied.

At the time of this meeting, the European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism had been ratified by 44 member states while its Amending Protocol has been ratified by 10 and signed by 32.

Ms. Šimonović pointed out that since Gabon had ratified the Convention, its women were in a position to challenge the status quo.

As at 25 April 2005, 139 States had ratified or acceded to the Convention.

Although the Gambia had ratified the Convention over ten years previously, contradictions remained.

It had ratified 12 of the international conventions on terrorism and was currently completing the constitutional procedures for accession to the recently adopted International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism.

Iceland had ratified and was implementing the 12 previous conventions and protocols on terrorism, and it had just signed the new International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism.

(a) Italy had ratified the Beijing Amendment

16. Invited all States ratifying or acceding to the Convention and those States parties that have not yet done so to make the declarations provided for in articles 21 and 22 of the Convention

As at 6 December 2005, the Convention had been ratified, acceded to or succeeded to by 140 States.

As at 20 December 2004, the Convention had been ratified, acceded to or succeeded to by 139 States.

Noting with satisfaction that, since the adoption of resolution 60 67, six additional States have ratified the Convention or acceded to it, bringing the total number of States parties to the Convention to one hundred and eighty,

Ms. Singh (Nepal) said that Nepal had ratified the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination and gave due consideration to the recommendations made by the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on the reports it submitted regularly under the Convention.

Ms. Šimonović, recalling that the Gambia had ratified the Convention without reservations, said that giving effect to it in national law was vital.
