Such a working group would complement the Security Council Informal Working Group on General Issues relating to Sanctions and the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team established pursuant to Security Council resolution 1526 (2004).

To fulfil its Council mandate, the working group agreed to conduct its work in two phases.

Under the mandate of the Security Council, the working group commenced its activities in January this year.

The second phase will involve the consideration by the working group of its recommendations to the Council.
