Russia has signed relevant agreements with Sao Tome and Principe, Burundi and Nigeria and has held negotiations with Zambia, Angola, Ethiopia, the Republic of the Congo and Chad.

If fully implemented, the schedule proposed by the Government of Sao Tome and Principe would involve payments totalling 693,896.

Mr. Chitaia (Georgia) I have the honour of introducing draft resolution A 59 L.66 on behalf of the following sponsors the Central African Republic, the Comoros, Guinea Bissau, the Niger, Sao Tome and Principe, Somalia and Tajikistan.

Angola, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Cape Verde, Djibouti, Georgia, Guinea Bissau, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, the Russian Federation, Sao Tome and Principe, Seychelles and Solomon Islands subsequently joined the sponsors.

The most recent plan submitted by the Republic of Moldova is within the six year time frame mentioned by the Committee, while those submitted by Georgia, the Niger, Sao Tome and Principe and Tajikistan have durations of 10, 9, 8 and 11 years, respectively.

In that connection, it believed that Liberia, the Niger and Sao Tome and Principe should also be granted exemptions under Article 19 owing to the difficult economic circumstances in those countries.

Decides that the Niger and Sao Tome and Principe should be permitted to vote in the General Assembly until the Assembly takes a final decision during the main part of the sixtieth session.

Payments by the Government of Sao Tome and Principe foreseen during the period from 2002 to 2004 in its payments schedule ( 128,711) significantly exceeded the amounts actually received applied in those years ( 31,634).
