This meeting was organized by UNCTAD in cooperation with the International Cotton Advisory Committee and the Common Fund for Commodities, and generously hosted by the Government of Mali.

Mr. Saha (Acting Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions) said that he had believed the Committee was already familiar with the information which the Advisory Committee had received.

The press release concerning the current meeting should therefore reflect the fact that the Committee had not endorsed the opinion contained in paragraph 8 of the Advisory Committee's report.

I also wish to emphasize, as I did at our informal meeting on 7 November 2005, the important role of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions and that of the Fifth Committee in this process.
