Working in partnership

CPF members are working to broaden understanding of criteria and indicators and to encourage their use as a monitoring and reporting tool in national forest programmes and other frameworks, such as those relating to biodiversity.

Issues involving the development of equal opportunity were being dealt with in the context of a social partnership that brought together trades unions, employers, the health sector and Government.

The Forum secretariat joined the Partnership at its inception and has been an active member of the steering committee for the aforementioned Global Forest Landscape Restoration Implementation Workshop, to be held in Petropolis, Brazil, in April 2005.

Much good work is ongoing in defining the concept of partnership as it relates to development programmes.

UNEP, in partnership with the NEPAD secretariat and the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment, is assisting African countries to prepare the five subregional environmental action plans of NEPAD.

According to Diamonds and Clubs, a recent report from Partnership Africa Canada, soldiers have press ganged peasant farmers into working in mining syndicates at Marange.

Both sides seem eager to expand the scope of their partnership, with the objective of reaching a high level of interoperability.

The recently signed joint statement by the Heads of the two organizations will assist in consolidating this ILO UNHCR partnership.

The Tehran process remains important the joint CPF report explains that it provides a framework for cooperation and collaboration among its members in regard to low forest cover countries.

Such a partnership is essential also in Somalia.

Registered partnership was introduced in 1998.

Members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests have also found the Partnership to be a functional means of efficient cooperation.

At its Fourth Meeting for the Promotion of Asian Forest Partnership, in Tokyo in December 2004, an Announcement on Strengthening the Asia Forest Partnership was adopted.

It is suggested that this could be an appropriate model for creating opportunities for joint work and partnership arrangements that would avoid turning expected results into endless processes.

NEPAD not only reflects this consensus but builds on it by identifying key priority areas for action.

4. Recognizes the progress made in the implementation of the New Partnership as well as regional and international support for the New Partnership, while acknowledging that much needs to be done in the implementation of the New Partnership

The workshop endorsed the need to promote and improve the status, role and condition of women and youth within the context of NAASP, as an integral part of the well being and prosperity of the two continents.

Azerbaijan closely cooperates with NATO in programs such as Partnership for Peace and Individual Partnership Action Plan.

So, in a way, the different structure is that we're partners, it's a partnership. We can continue to work and dedicate ourselves to this project, and then we also share in the rewards.

In particular, we support the goal of a global partnership for development, and believe that the Churches can make a unique contribution to that partnership.
