The Conference commended the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) for its key role in strengthening economic and commercial cooperation among Member States.

A recent (admittedly partisan) study by the US Congress s Joint Economic Committee documents the relative weakness of the current recovery.

The Committee takes note of the difficulties encountered by the State party, especially those of an economic and social nature.

In 2006 and 2007 Switzerland and Afghanistan would co chair the Standing Committee on Victim Assistance and Socio Economic Reintegration.
