(b) On 11 March 2002, the General Directorate of General Security, Caritas Lebanon Migrants Centre and the International Catholic Migration Committee, signed a memorandum of understanding in Beirut in order to assist the Government to return illegal migrants to their country of origin

The Committee expresses concern about the mandatory detention of illegal migrants, including asylum seekers, in particular when such detention affects women, children, unaccompanied minors, and those who are considered stateless.

Those who do not choose to testify and are not in the shelter are housed in one of the following locations in the Michal facility for illegal entrants in Hadera, in Zohar in the south and in Maasiyahu prison in a special section for illegal migrants.
