The interactive computer based training course entitled Basic security in the field staff safety, health, and welfare continues to be the most prevalent and efficient means of raising security awareness among individual United Nations and humanitarian staff.

Based on the inputs from the staff, field commanders and UNMOs, and taking into account the current requirements, OIOS recommends adopting the following technologies in the medium term

Salaries and common staff costs of international staff are net of staff assessment and are based on standard costs for United Nations Truce Supervisory Organization (UNTSO) which is applicable to Cyprus.

To support these field level activities, ITC maintains an active Headquarters based applied research programme.

Field operating costs have been reduced by 1,147,800 and the new staffing structure resulted in lower staff costs.

United Nations staff members continue to face serious and often escalating threats in carrying out their duties in the field.

Coverage under the Plan is limited to locally recruited General Service staff members and National Professional Officers in the field.
