In conclusion, I would like to make several general comments regarding the fourteenth work programme of the CTC.

The proposals for the multi year programme take into account ongoing discussions on the working methods of the Commission.

The review of the working methods of the Commission and development of the multi year programme of work should emphasize the catalytic role of the Commission in promoting gender mainstreaming.

The Committee would develop and approve a long term programme and annual work programme that reflect its ongoing priorities and objectives.

At its forty sixth session in 2001, the Commission developed a multi year programme of work for the period 2002 2006.

At its forty fourth session, the Commission proposed themes for 2001 to bridge the gap until the development of a new multi year programme of work.
