During negotiations held at Geneva in April 1994 on the possible establishment of a United Nations peace keeping force in Abkhazia, Georgia, the parties displayed some flexibility from their previously held positions.

This position is in accordance with the position we maintained at the Negotiating Council, in accordance with good sense and in accordance with the wishes of the Azanian masses.

That position was not only maintained throughout the Conference and led it to failure but also continued and extended through the negotiations on the General Assembly summit outcome document (resolution 60 1).
