(e) Fully support the Government in eradicating violence against women

Eliminating violence against women in all its insidious forms domestic violence, trafficking, and armed conflict must be a major commitment of the entire international community.

The Government also further outlined the content of its plan of action to eliminate violence against women in Darfur.

UNDP also continues advocacy work for the elimination of violence against women in rural areas.

In the draft related to violence against women, it has been proposed that violence be defined according to the definition used in the General Assembly Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women which emanated from CEDAW's General Recommendation No. 19 of 1992.

The judiciary has played a pro active and constructive role in combating violence against women.

The European Union considered the elimination of all forms of violence against women a priority and ascribed cardinal importance to the implementation of comprehensive programmes for preventing and eliminating domestic violence.

We therefore undertake to promote policies which will help to eradicate violence against women and guarantee the full enjoyment of women's fundamental rights and freedoms.

(a) To adopt, strengthen and implement legislation that prohibits domestic violence, prescribes punitive measures and establishes adequate legal protection against domestic violence and periodically to review, evaluate and revise these laws and regulations so as to ensure their effectiveness in eliminating domestic violence

For example, violence against women is practically invisible in the Millennium Development Goals and yet the elimination of violence against women is crucial for the equitable achievement of all eight of the goals.

UNDP supports the Government in formulating a policy on co existence and citizen security, with a focus on eliminating domestic violence.

Saudi Arabia had ratified the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and established a plan of action to combat violence against women.

By 1965, all legal forms of dissidence had been done away with, leaving armed violence as the only means of inflicting some sort of damage on the regime.

These rights are enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and further elaborated in the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women.

3. Strongly condemns all forms of domestic violence against women and girls, and in this regard, calls for the elimination of all forms of gender based violence in the family, including where condoned by the State

The international community should support the Government in eradicating violence against women and encourage a concerted campaign to address violence against women, both through educational and legal measures.

Pursuant to the draft UN Declaration on Elimination of Violence Against Women, violence is considered to be any act of violence based on gender, which results or may result in physical, sexual of psychical injury or suffering of woman .

To combat all forms of violence against women and to implement the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.Resolution 34 180, annex.

The Millennium Development Goals could not be achieved without eradicating domestic violence, if only because of the cost of coping with the phenomenon.

The Department of Women's Affairs has given the elimination of domestic violence a high priority in its plan of action from 2003 2006.

In implementing the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, States must focus on the eradication of violence against women, specifically the trafficking of women and children.

(a) The activities and initiatives of States aimed at the elimination of domestic violence against women, including legal, educational, economic, social and other measures

Determined to eliminate rape and other forms of sexual violence in all their manifestations, including in conflict and related situations,

(g) To ensure that diverse strategies that take into account the intersection of gender with other factors are developed in order to eradicate all forms of violence against women

The Government and the international community should support initiatives of women's organizations to end violence against women and the establishment of shelters.

The Holy See was collaborating with all those of goodwill to give priority to social policies aimed at eliminating the causes of such violence.

(i) Integrate targeted measures to eliminate violence against women in all national development policies and strategies, in particular in the areas of education, health and work

The dearth of data on violence against women at all levels is cited to explain why the globally agreed Millennium Development Goals do not include the elimination of such violence as a target or indicator.
