The Office of Global Youth Affairs is building a local youth council at every US embassy around the world, to advise and help to implement embassy programming aimed at local youth.

In June 2003, however, a headquarters for youth development was set up within a cabinet office.

Many youth organizations support the development of a global youth development index, following the success of the initial index developed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Office in Brazil.

Through such strategic linkups, youth leaders of participating youth organizations have the opportunity to share best practices in areas of youth sector development with their peers overseas.
