Oversight entails a wide spectrum of activities including, inter alia, internal audit, evaluation, inspection, monitoring and performance management.

In order to ensure independent monitoring of prisons, legislation was planned to strengthen parliamentary oversight through the human rights Ombudsman.

Lastly, as an oversight measure, the FIU has requested the Banks and Financial Entities Inspectorate to include routinely in its annual scheduled (on site) inspections the monitoring of measures taken to combat money laundering. This monitoring began in January 2003.

With European and US leadership, several measures were undertaken to strengthen financial oversight and monitoring via the IMF and a Financial Stability Board that replaces the old Financial Stability Forum.

The Office assists the Secretary General in fulfilling his internal oversight responsibilities in respect of the resources and staff of the Organization through monitoring, internal audit, inspection and evaluation and investigation.

Multilateral institutions and international partners assist national AIDS coordinating authorities in the strengthening of their monitoring and evaluation mechanisms and structures that facilitate oversight of and problem solving for national AIDS programmes.

Ensuring effective oversight is one key function of parliament, and it includes oversight of the security forces.

The Office of Internal Oversight Services continued its activities to strengthen monitoring and evaluation in the context of results based management, including the provision of training and an evaluation manual, which is available on its website.

The IsDB is strongly committed to ensuring that all of its activities are governed by strict rules, procedures, and guidelines, and that such activities are undertaken on the basis of rigorous scrutiny, due diligence, monitoring and oversight.

These oversight mechanisms were referred to as either audit committees or oversight committees.

We agree that the Office of Internal Oversight Services should provide internal oversight services for small United Nations agencies with insufficient current oversight capacity.

The Department of Financial Monitoring is authorized to take steps to prevent the legalization of income obtained by illegal means, using methods including the collection and processing of data on financial transactions subject to special oversight.

29.14 The Office of the Under Secretary General provides overall strategic planning and monitoring and ensures effective coordination of the work plan for the Office of Internal Oversight Services through the identification and mitigation of risks to the Organization's resources.

Comment by the Administration. The Office of Internal Oversight Services has intensified its monitoring of the audit workplan, with meetings being convened weekly to review the progress of assignments in accordance with the plan.
