A Tribunal is established by the present Statute to be known as the United Nations Administrative Tribunal.

55 159. Review of the Statute of the United Nations Administrative Tribunal

The administrative office of the Tribunal would provide services to the secretariat of the Tribunal in connection with personnel, budgetary and financial administration and use of common services, together with the relating administrative support to the Tribunal when it is in session .

The recommendations put forward in the report highlighted the need to amend the United Nations Administrative Tribunal statute to bring it into conformity with the International Labour Organization Administrative Tribunal statute in those areas.

(s) Comprehensive report of the United Nations Administrative Tribunal on its activities (A 58 680)

The Administrative Appeals Tribunal, established by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal Act 1975 is an independent body whose function is to review decisions made by Federal Ministers, authorities and officials under more than 200 acts of the Federal Parliament.

The Tribunal held two sessions devoted essentially to legal matters having a bearing on the judicial work of the Tribunal and other organizational and administrative matters.

The Tribunal wishes to emphasize that systems are in place to ensure compliance with the administrative instructions.

(v) Note by the Secretary General transmitting his comments on the report of the Joint Inspection Unit entitled Administration of justice harmonization of the statutes of the United Nations Administrative Tribunal and the International Labour Organization Administrative Tribunal' (A 59 280 Add.1)

Decides to amend the Statute of the United Nations Administrative Tribunal with effect from 1 January 2004, as follows

The General Assembly, in resolution 57 307, requested the Joint Inspection Unit to continue to study the possibility of harmonizing the statutes of the United Nations Administrative Tribunal and the International Labour Organization Administrative Tribunal and to submit a report for consideration at its fifty ninth session.

1. The Secretary General of the United Nations shall make the administrative arrangements necessary for the functioning of the Tribunal.

The independence of the Administrative Tribunal, emphasized by the Assembly on a number of occasions, is reinforced by both the perceived and actual complete independence of its secretariat in providing services to the Tribunal.

The Tribunal decided to hold its nineteenth session from 7 to 18 March 2005 to deal with legal matters having a bearing on the judicial work of the Tribunal and other organizational and administrative matters.

1. Decides to amend the Statute of the United Nations Administrative Tribunal ( the Statute ), with effect from 1 January 2001, as follows

I am glad to report that the Tribunal has taken further steps to develop its relationships with other international organizations and bodies this year, an administrative arrangement was concluded between the Tribunal and the United Nations Environment Programme.

The author sought to have the HREOC decision reviewed by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, but was advised that the matter was outside their jurisdiction.

The objective of the report is to provide a definitive opinion on the feasibility of harmonizing the statutes of the United Nations Administrative Tribunal and the International Labour Organization Administrative Tribunal with a view to closing the gap between the two and removing the perception of inequality and discrimination of justice within the United Nations family.

The ethics office, like the Office of the Ombudsman, the Administrative Tribunal, the Board of Auditors and secretariat of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions, would be under the budget section on programme budget, Overall policymaking, direction and coordination.

In the course of 2005, the Tribunal held its nineteenth and twentieth sessions, which were devoted to legal and judicial matters, as well as administrative and organizational issues.

(w) Report of the Secretary General on the possibility of the financial independence of the United Nations Administrative Tribunal from the Office of Legal Affairs (A 59 78)

At its third plenary session, held in Paris on 20 December 1951, the Administrative Tribunal decided to submit a note each year to the President of the General Assembly.

11. Concurs with the view of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions that continued close collaboration between the International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia and the International Tribunal for Rwanda is essential, and urges the Secretary General to take all necessary measures to ensure such collaboration

5. Notes with great concern that the high vacancy rate, particularly at the higher level of the administrative hierarchy, affects the effectiveness of the activities of the International Tribunal for Rwanda

In paragraph 15 of his report (A 60 303) the Secretary General indicates that, in order for the Tribunal to perform its functions in an independent manner, it would be necessary, in addition to transferring its resources from section 8 to section 1 of the budget, to establish a separate Tribunal administrative office.

The authors' withdrawal of their application before the RRT thus deprived both the State party of any opportunity to address the authors' claims before its own administrative appeals tribunal and through subsequent judicial review.

48. Requests the Secretary General to provide to the General Assembly at its sixty third session terms of reference for the Registries, taking into account the current working methods of the United Nations Administrative Tribunal

The United Nations Administrative Tribunal shall, under conditions prescribed in its statute, hear and pass judgement upon applications from staff members alleging non observance of their terms of appointment, including all pertinent regulations and rules.
