Among other countries, Egypt and Libyan Arab Jamahiriya recorded substantial growth in local resources contributions.

While the Nobel Prize committee cited his contributions to macroeconomics, Phelps has made contributions in many areas, including the theory of growth and technological change, optimal taxation, and social justice.

The regular budgets of the specialized agencies, based on assessed contributions, have been locked at historically low levels because of the application of zero or no nominal growth policies.

The Committee on Contributions must revise the scale methodology as a matter of priority to better reflect better States' true capacity to pay and to prevent sharp increases that were out of all proportion to the growth of national economies.

An increase in both the general purpose and special purpose contributions was recorded during 2004, with the general purpose contributions amounting to US 10.5 million and the special purpose contributions to US 22.2 million.
