The experts' discussion had suggested four broad areas for UNCTAD's work on corporate contributions

The traditional reference areas will be transformed into common spaces for learning, discussion and meetings.

As members know, the discussion was organized around the three areas into which the 15 youth priorities were categorized.

During the discussion several delegations commended UNCTAD for organizing this meeting and the efforts to identify areas of cooperation with other organizations.

Those areas cover about half of the world's surface, and their unique biodiversity has been the subject of much international discussion in recent years.

We need concrete reform decisions, with timetables as appropriate, in all the four areas under discussion development, security, human rights and institutional reform.

In introducing the concept document, Ms. O'Connor explained that the paper contained preliminary views and purposefully had left some areas open in order to stimulate discussion.

The Expert Group agreed to the key areas outlined in the discussion document as a starting point and asked that a small group of Expert Group members prepare a refined version within the next year.
