Mr. Endresen (Norway), noting the long term psychological effects of torture and the assistance required by its victims, asked how the international community might contribute to the rehabilitation of victims, other than by providing financial support to the United Nations Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture.

The United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture 26 June is held annually on 26 June to speak out against the crime of torture and to honor and support victims and survivors throughout the world.
