Alaska's court system has four levels the Alaska Supreme Court, the Alaska Court of Appeals, the superior courts and the district courts.

Appeals of trial judgements in a further six cases (involving 10 convicted persons), 28 interlocutory appeals and one application for review of a trial judgement were also received by the Appeals Chamber during this period.

In addition, the relevant study would need to be conducted system wide in order to take into consideration all duty stations with standing Joint Appeals Boards.

Indeed, the increasing workload of the Appeals Chamber, which is common to both Tribunals, makes it difficult to estimate when all the appeals will be completed.

The appeals for the system to furnish assistance in very sensitive and complex areas had placed an additional burden on its resources and should not be answered at the expense of cooperation for development.
