On 10 May, the Committee considered the interim report of the External Auditor (PBC.21 8), the interim financial performance report for the biennium 2004 2005, submitted by the Director General (PBC.21 9) and the Annual Report of UNIDO 2004 (including interim programme performance report for the biennium 2004 2005) (PBC.21 2 and Add.1).

The financial statements, which are included in the Interim Report of the External Auditor, Financial Performance Report and Programme Performance Report for the Biennium 2004 2005, have not been audited and no audit opinion is expressed thereon.

The Commission s interim report, published on April 11, is both lucid and penetrating.

Financial regulation 10.6 stipulates that, at the beginning of the second calendar year of each fiscal period, the Director General shall submit to the Committee an interim financial report on significant financial developments that have affected the Organization during the first calendar year of the fiscal period concerned.

The GEF operates the financial mechanisms for the Climate Convention and the Convention on Biological Diversity on an interim basis. It is also the principal entity entrusted on an interim basis with operation of the Stockholm Convention financial mechanism.
