CAMBRIDGE Last year, the leaders of all five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council visited India, accompanied by delegations of business leaders.

We reaffirm our view that Japan, Germany, Brazil and India should be considered for permanent membership in an expanded Council.

Among other positions held are memberships of Executive Council of Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (IDSA) and Pugwash India.

Together Air India, Air India Cargo, Air India Express, and Air India Regional form the Air India Limited.

China, India, and South Africa have all committed to adopting national health insurance.

Reminding India of China s claims is therefore all the more urgent for China.

On all fronts demographic, economic, military, and political India is far above Pakistan.

Despite the difficulties, India believed that consensus had to be reached on what functions should be assigned to the Trusteeship Council.

Several powerful states, whose growing global role has made them aspirants to permanent seats on a reformed Security Council, will serve alongside India.

And both have worked to thwart efforts by India, Brazil, and South Africa to become permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.

At the bilateral level, Chile has supported the aspiration of Brazil, Germany, India and Japan to occupy permanent seats on the Security Council.

At the same time, the performance on the Council of those countries that aspire to permanent membership will be seen as a harbinger of what would come if they were to succeed. This puts the spotlight on India all the more.

North Korea is now the ninth state with nuclear weapons, joining the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, Israel, India, and Pakistan.
