Separate meeting on Financing for Development

The plenary meetings and the separate meeting on Financing for Development will be held in the General Assembly Hall.

In accordance with resolution 59 145, the General Assembly held a separate meeting on financing for development within the framework of the High level Plenary Meeting of the sixtieth session of the General Assembly.

The General Assembly has thus concluded its separate meeting on financing for development and this stage of its consideration of agenda item 53 of the provisional agenda.

Copies of the list of speakers for the separate meeting on Financing for Development are available at the General Assembly Affairs Branch (room S 2925) (see p. 5).

Separate funds for general or special purposes may be established by the General Conference or the Director General.

The High level Plenary Meeting of the General Assembly, composed of six plenary meetings, four round table sessions and one separate meeting on Financing for Development, will be held from Wednesday, 14 September, to Friday, 16 September 2005 at United Nations Headquarters.

The Secretary General wishes to recall resolution 59 291 of 15 April 2005 on the preparation for and organization of the High level Plenary Meeting, in which the General Assembly decided that the separate meeting on Financing for Development would be held on Wednesday, 14 September, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The separate meeting on Financing for Development will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. immediately following the adjournment of the opening plenary meeting.

To accommodate all the speakers, statements in the separate meeting on Financing for Development are limited to three minutes.

At the same meeting, the Secretary General addressed the meeting.

The separate meeting on Financing for Development will be held within the framework of the High level Plenary meeting from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., immediately following the adjournment of the opening plenary meeting.

Within the framework of the High level Plenary Meeting, the Assembly will hold a separate meeting on financing for development on 14 September 2005, immediately following the adjournment of the opening plenary meeting of the High level Plenary Meeting.

At its resumed fifty ninth session, in April 2005, the General Assembly decided that the separate meeting on Financing for Development would be held on 14 September 2005 (resolution 59 291) (see also items 48 and 121).

Decides that the separate meeting on Financing for Development to be held within the framework of the High level Plenary Meeting shall be held on 14 September 2005, immediately following the adjournment of the opening plenary meeting

The PIT leader had indicated, at a separate meeting with me, that his party would not delay in designating its representatives.

General Assembly Affairs and Meeting Services

With regard to item 53 of the draft agenda (Follow up to and implementation of the outcome of the International Conference on Financing for Development), the Secretary General wishes to recall paragraph 4 of resolution 59 145, in which the General Assembly decided to hold a separate meeting on Financing for Development within the framework of the High level Plenary Meeting of the sixtieth session of the General Assembly.

The Co Chairperson (Gabon) (spoke in French) The General Assembly will now begin its separate meeting on Financing for Development, held in accordance with Assembly resolution 59 291 of 15 April 2005, under item 53 of the provisional agenda.

In order to accommodate all the speakers at this separate meeting, statements and this, again, is important should not exceed three minutes.
