Association of World Citizens

Citizens enjoy freedom of association.

The Ministry of Social Affairs of Denmark has maintained regular dialogue with individual senior citizens through the Association of Senior Citizen Councils.

These organizations included the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce, Cayman Ministers Association, People for Referendum, Concerned Citizens Group and the Forum.

The Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth of Germany set up a coordinating unit in the Federal Association of Senior Citizens' Organizations comprising 89 seniors' organizations and representing nine million older persons.

Article 35 of the Constitution reads, Citizens of the People's Republic of China enjoy freedom of speech, of the press, of assembly, of association, of procession and of demonstration. In exercising their rights and freedoms, however, citizens must honour the associated legal obligations.

Under the Constitution, all citizens were accorded equal rights and responsibilities, and torture was a crime. The Constitution also guaranteed the right of association, freedom of opinion, freedom of scientific research, freedom of the press and freedom of worship, and accorded all citizens the right to education.

The regime in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea remained one of the most oppressive in the world, denying its citizens the most basic freedoms of religion, conscience, speech, assembly and association.

This association is soon to become a member of the International Library Association.

The recent establishment of the National Lawyers Association, the National Doctors Association and the National Accountancy Association speak directly to this unequal treatment.
