Assessment of the work of the Security Council during the presidency of Argentina (January 2005)

Coordination of ongoing projects relating to land degradation assessment and rehabilitation, with integrated ecosystem managements should take place.

The projects and programmes conducted in the area of the rehabilitation of degraded land do not always include appropriate mechanisms for evaluating the impact of the activities involved or for determining the area of land rehabilitated, for which figures are given in less than a quarter of the reports.

They are keen to mobilize expertise available in universities, research institutes and institutions specializing in monitoring and assessing land degradation.

Four reports emphasize the involvement of local people in monitoring and assessing initiatives to combat land degradation.

The specific activities of the project are to discuss the scientific and technical tools that have to be used in order to develop an integrated assessment methodology for land degradation and poverty.

Vulnerability components, risk intensity and response capacity, with their particular indicators, form the basis for the integral assessment of land degradation and poverty.

Similarly, monitoring of related programmes should be decentralized to include feedback from land users and participatory poverty assessment.

Evaluation by the Board of Trustees and secretariat in performing their evaluation, the Board and the secretariat carry out the following activities

Requests the secretariat to report to the Conference of the Parties at its eighth session on progress in the LADA.

One report clearly states that land degradation is not monitored and assessed on account of a shortage of human and financial resources.

During the preparation of the Act, the Parliament instructed the Ministry to obtain a professional evaluation of the Act's relationship with human rights.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (In 2006 FAO) will operationalize in 2006 the Land Degradation Assessment in Drylands (LADA) Programme, which should provide and disseminate a number of information and awareness documents.

In September 2003 the government submitted its response to the evaluation of this Act to the House of Representatives of the States General.

It is to be recalled that, following a re evaluation of security factors, the position of the new building within the land expansion had been modified to meet the Headquarters minimum operating security standards (MOSS).

In 2006, FAO will implement the Land Degradation Assessment in Drylands programme, which will provide and disseminate a number of information and awareness documents.

The balancing of the complainant's possible need for protection against the Security Police's assessment thus had to be made by the Government.

In addition, the U.S. EPA uses the National Research Council's four step process for human health risk assessment (1) Hazard Identification, (2) Dose Response Assessment, (3) Exposure Assessment, and (4) Risk Characterization.

We support the decision of the Security Council to include gender issues targeted by resolution 1325 (2000) in the mandates of the various peace assessment and peacekeeping missions.
