The Chinese Russian joint working paper should deserve further consideration at the CD.

It could thus establish the relevant ad hoc committee of the Conference on Disarmament and launch work on the matter.

The United Kingdom is not afraid to debate how best to get the CD back to work.

The working paper outlined the messages Japan hoped the 2005 Conference would deliver.

Furthermore, the Committee shall submit its work plans to each ordinary meeting of the Conference of the Parties.

24. At its seventy ninth session, the International Labour Conference endorsed the conclusions of the Harare Conference and noted the 1992 Special Report of the Director General on Action against Apartheid.

The COP15 conference in Copenhagen was supposed to forge a successor treaty that would take effect when the Kyoto Protocol expires in 2012.

The agenda represented the priorities set out at the World Summit and reflected the reform agenda of the Secretary General.

The 2003 report of the Director General to the International Labour Conference sums up the links like this

It recognized the challenges arising from the large number of items under consideration by the subsidiary bodies, especially in terms of developing workable agendas and the pressures placed on small delegations.

One result of the Montreal conference is the non governmental statement about follow up to the important work that has been accomplished through the Year.

Let us look closely at one of the outcomes of Barbados the Programme of Action and its recommendations.

The ILO Labour Conference is scheduled to adopt the consolidated maritime labour convention at its ninety fourth (maritime) session in February 2006.

3. This principle reflects some of the fundamental principles of the ILO itself, and in particular the Declaration of Philadelphia, adopted in 1944 by the International Labour Conference and incorporated into the ILO Constitution.

Thus the work done has enabled the decisions adopted by the COP to be more effective in combating desertification and drought.

In the same decision, the Conference of the Parties also decided that, for its second session, the programme of work would cover the following areas

It also endorsed work under way in socio economic activities as a contribution to the World Summit for Social Development.

These and other telling lessons constitute important parts of the Programme of Action adopted by the Cairo Conference.

In that event, close contacts should none the less be maintained with the Conference on Disarmament, and appropriate steps should be taken to avoid duplication of work.

Similar emphasis is evident in FAO Conference resolution 9 85, ILO Conference resolution on technical cooperation (1987) and WHO resolution WHA.43.9 (1990).

Also on the subject of holding a third UNISPACE conference, the Working Group noted the working papers submitted by India and Pakistan and considered the working paper submitted by the Group of 77.

The implementation will be ongoing and will be monitored in the context of the current human resources action plan of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.

When we had the CD presidency, we tested the readiness of our colleagues to start substantive work in the CD three years ago, and it was in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in the United States.

Moreover, a review conference on the follow up of the Cairo Conference would most likely have to be convened before the year 2004 in order to ensure the effective implementation of the Programme of Action.
