Reintegration activities would continue to be financed from voluntary contributions.

Reintegration is a crucial aspect of that problem.

But reintegration will require a carrot and stick approach.

We need the world to support our plans for reintegration.

For this purpose, and for the first time in history, the Brazilian Government placed the theme of gender, in social reintegration, as one of the criteria for the discussion of projects supported by resources from the National Penitentiary Fund (FUNPEN).

Longer term strategies to address the problems of unemployed youth and regional disarmament, demobilization and reintegration remain challenges to effective reintegration, socio economic recovery and political stability, including conflict prevention.

Operative paragraph 24 should be especially supported (development of restorative measures, programmes for social reintegration and so on), bearing in mind the main items on the agenda of the Congress.

Successful reintegration of ex combatants requires sustained development assistance.
