With regard to education, Brazil's national human rights education programme provides a strong framework for the promotion of education that is fundamentally in line with the principles of the culture of peace.

Community events are organized to foster reconciliation, education as well as the promotion of peace.

Education geared towards peace, conflict prevention and reconciliation should be included in national school curricula.

We recognize the fundamental role of education in building and consolidating a culture of peace.

We call on all governments to integrate peace and disarmament education into their systems of education at all levels of schooling, tertiary institutions, and teacher training programs.

We hope that joint efforts by the international community in eight concrete areas from education to global peace and security and the consistent implementation of the Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace will facilitate the successful transition to a culture of peace and non violence.
