Consultative Work (Laos) monitoring existing projects.

Improve linkages between programming, technical assistance, policy work and monitoring.

Government also work with CSO's in systematic monitoring of the implementation of the said Labor Conventions.

Both initiatives will work together through the Working Groups on Monitoring and Statistics.

I should also like to report that the Monitoring Team has continued to provide essential support to the work of the Committee.

We also thank the Committee's Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team for its work to improve the effectiveness of the sanctions regime.

Progress in supporting country efforts towards designing, implementing and monitoring national strategies for the development of statistics and directions for future work

OIOS noted that further efforts were required in prioritizing OHCHR work, translating objectives into work plans as well as monitoring and measuring achievements, including through the establishment of a functional system of evaluation.

The regional precursor control project has concluded the required normative and monitoring work by creation of new laws and monitoring structures in the region and the remaining project funds were redirected in mid 2005 to support law enforcement action against precursor trafficking.

As it has done with other FATF style regional bodies, the Monitoring Team intends to engage these new groups to ensure that their members are aware of the work of the Committee, of their reporting obligations under resolution 1455 (2003), and of the mandate of the Monitoring Team.

The subsequent work reflects the requirements of Article 16, and the recommendation of the workshop that existing monitoring programmes and mechanisms should be used to the extent possible.
