The health system in BiH is organized and provides services on three levels primary health care, consultative and specialist and hospital health care protection.

Health, health care services

Within the regular health system, these activities are aimed at strengthening the capacities for providing health services to the young in many areas (reproductive health, mental health, nutrition, etc.).

We revised the mental health component of the primary health care services by adding psycho social care and psycho social counselors to the system.

To address the issue, the Government was trying to link provision of health services to the existing system of agricultural and community extension workers who were being trained to provide basic health care services.

In partnership with the Health and Community Services Boards, the Department of Health and Community Services developed a risk management system to be used throughout the province with children in need of protective intervention and with their families.

Following the Health Services Development Project (PDSS), the government requested IDA to help finance a second, 6 year project to carry the health system development strategy through to 2000.
