Different types of measures can be included in disaster recovery plan (DRP).

In paragraph 153, the Board reiterated its recommendation that UNRWA (a) develop, approve and promulgate a comprehensive disaster recovery plan and communicate it to all personnel and (b) test, review and update its disaster recovery plan regularly.

The Board recommended that a copy of the disaster recovery plan be kept off site.

As a result of the tsunami disaster, 2005 will be anomalous during the 2005 2009 plan period.

WFP has, in consultation with the Government, formulated a contingency plan, identifying potential disaster scenarios, impact and response.

Comment by the Administration. UNRWA recovery plans for most ICT systems exist but should be part of a comprehensive disaster recovery plan.

The Puebla Panama Plan included a natural disaster prevention and mitigation initiative, which incorporated risk management considerations in projects in all sectors.

Specifically, the 57th WMO Executive Council approved an organization wide coordination framework and a detailed implementation plan for the multihazard approach of the organization to disaster reduction, led by its Natural Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Programme.

Such analyses have been used by WFP and other United Nations entities to plan and implement relief operations, as well as disaster reduction activities.

A business continuity plan (BCP) includes planning for non IT related aspects such as key personnel, facilities, crisis communication and reputation protection, and should refer to the disaster recovery plan (DRP) for IT related infrastructure recovery continuity.

In paragraph 220 of the report, UNRWA agreed with the Board's recommendation that it implement adequate back up procedures as part of a disaster recovery plan.

Comment by the Administration. The above mentioned issues will be addressed in the disaster recovery plan to be finalized in June 2005 (see para. 449 above).

Recognizing that the Hyogo Framework for Action complements the Yokohama Strategy for a Safer World Guidelines for Natural Disaster Prevention, Preparedness and Mitigation and its Plan of Action,

The secretariat is constituted of representatives of relevant ministries and institutions, which are in the process of preparing a 10 year plan of action to achieve disaster risk reduction.

That had led to the preparation of a regional disaster reduction plan, and the Governments of the region had planned their relevant policies, priorities and actions within its framework.

The strategic plan (2004 2007) is to protect livelihoods in crisis situations and enhance resilience to shocks by creating assets, by disaster mitigation and by enabling more sustainable livelihoods.

In my assessment of the ICT control environment I reported that ICT policies had not been formalised and that a disaster recovery and business continuity plan had not been developed.

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Telecommunication Standardization Advisory Group proposed an action plan in March 2005 to develop technical standards in support of telecommunications for disaster preparedness and early warning.
