Disaster beckoned.

Then came the Nakba, the Calamity.

64 years of a catastrophe called Israel.

On nearby streets, houses and businesses were destroyed.

The disaster has effectively paralysed the economy.

The scale of this tragedy has overwhelmed all the governments capacity.

Out of chaos is often born the dancing star.

The immediate impact of the disaster was felt by millions of people.

The US cannot deny this disaster.

It is the scale of the catastrophe that astonishes me.

A calamity is inevitable unless we change.

But catastrophe was avoided.

The 6 January meeting convened in Jakarta at the initiative of the Indonesian Government was also important for coordinating international relief efforts and made possible an international plan for providing required assistance and for mitigating the consequences of the tragedy.

Given the nature and scale of the disaster, solidarity on the part of the international community is an absolute necessity if those countries that have been affected are to overcome the consequences of the catastrophe.

Doing so will not be easy. But disaster does not wait.

Nein merely brings calamity closer.

Indeed, such attitudes are potentially disastrous.

Where it goes, the next crisis is inevitably doomed to follow.

Such a declaration shall be made subsequent to the natural disaster and prior to the deployment of the operation.

The magnitude of the catastrophe requires a commensurate response from the global community.

That is the least that we can do when natural disasters occur.
