The Group supported countries in the process of accession to the WTO.

The process of accession to WTO continues to represent challenges for acceding countries, especially the least developed countries, which have called for the full implementation of the guidelines on Accession of the Least Developed Countries adopted on 10 December 2002.

But the new regulation also seriously penalizes subsidiary financing in new EU member and accession countries.

It is simply not true that Turkish accession would open the floodgates to non European countries.

There is a need to facilitate developing countries' accession to existing MRAs and negotiation of new ones.

Targeted technical assistance shall be provided to acceding landlocked developing countries on a priority basis, covering all stages of the accession negotiations and taking into account the high costs involved in the accession negotiations.

For their accession to the organization, developing countries must comply with a wider array of conditions than those previously complied with by developed countries themselves.

We also recognise the need to facilitate an early accession of developing countries in the region to the WTO.

It is crucial to ensure fair and equitable terms of accession, commensurate with the trade, financial and development needs of acceding developing countries, and increased support in all stages of the accession negotiations, as well as to address specific needs of newly acceded countries in the Doha work programme negotiations.
