The Committee has sought an update on Australia's progress towards accession to the Convention for the Marking of Plastic Explosives for the Purpose of Detection (MARPLEX Convention).

The low level of accession to the Convention, especially among so called host States, could be explained in part by the fact that the protection regime under the Convention involved sensitive legal and political issues.
