She expressed her gratitude to the experts whose terms had expired on 31 December 2004, and in particular to Feride Acar, the former Chairperson.

The meeting took place on 20 October 2005. Feride Acar, a former member of the Committee, served as an expert and resource person at the event. A staff member of the Division also participated.

At the 666th meeting, on 10 January, the report by Ms. Acar, the former Chairperson, who was unable to attend the opening meeting, was read by Ms. Popescu.

She briefed the Committee on the commemorative event of 13 October 2004 to mark the twenty fifth anniversary of the adoption of the Convention, for which Ms. Acar had been the moderator.
