Under article 1 of the Family Code, only marriages registered with the civil registry office are recognized.

A naturalized Jordanian therefore enjoys all rights and privileges granted to Jordanians in general, which entitles him to correct errors appearing in his name in accordance with articles 32 to 35 of the Personal Status Act No. 9 of 2001 concerning the correction of entries in the personal status records.

Section 18(1) of the Civil Status (Registration) Act provides for any of a number of persons to register a child.

The assistant shall record the marriage in the designated register and subsequently transmit a copy thereof to the Department of Civil Status within 10 days of the date of the marriage.

The said copy shall eliminate the need for the two parties to notify the marriage to the Department of Civil Status and the assistant shall be responsible for any failure to transmit the copy.

219. The UNPROFOR Communications Section provides a communications network for the military contingents, military observers, civilian police, civilian administration, logistic and support elements within and externally from the mission area.

If a man and a woman in fact have marital relations, the marriage must be registered with the civil registry office if those relations are to be recognized as legal marital relations.

It is also worth noting that, in contrast to the old Aruban Civil Code, a single individual can now qualify to adopt.
