In a highly evolved global community, and especially in this new millennium, it is high time that massive killings and crimes against humanity become things of the past.

Today, the peoples of our countries justifiably expect from all of us the adoption of measures for the further transformation of the United Nations into an effective tool for addressing the problems of the new millennium.

We urge the entire international community to keep the Millennium Declaration commitments alive and not limit the goals set in 2000 by means of this new, not very encouraging language.

We wish to participate in a constructive and flexible spirit, convinced that the changes achieved should allow us to adapt our Organization to the challenges that lie ahead in the new millennium.

Reiterating that strengthened international cooperation is an essential element for the effective implementation of the Habitat Agenda and the Declaration on Cities and Other Human Settlements in the New Millennium,

The much larger US fiscal deficits of the new millennium, courtesy of Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, portend large and indefinite trade deficits.

Instead, the time has come for this great Organization to strengthen and rededicate itself in order to effectively and efficiently meet the challenges of the new millennium.

11. Encourages Governments and their Habitat Agenda partners to evaluate and report to UN Habitat on their implementation of the Habitat Agenda and the Declaration on Cities and Other Human Settlements in the New Millennium

Let future generations remember this moment as a time when world leaders rose to the occasion to lay the foundation for a healthy and progressive global village this remains our destination in the new millennium.

The Bush administration has put outright grants at the center of its foreign assistance policy, a commitment that is embodied in its new aid agency, the Millennium Challenge Account.

The UN Millennium Project Task Force recommends that developing countries should focus on platform technologies that have broad applications or impacts in the economy, such as information and communications technology (ICT), biotechnology, and new materials.

Family alone demands enough from an individual, but in this new millennium where more than one individual or spouse is working to support a family, the demands of upholding family life and maintaining a career or job are immense.

The designation of 2001 as the United Nations Year of Dialogue among Civilizations and the adoption of the Global Agenda for Dialogue among Civilizations and its Programme of Action were indeed major initiatives to enhance dialogue and understanding at the beginning of the new millennium.

ASEAN supported the new orientations of the budget, which more accurately reflected the Organization's priorities as defined in the medium term plan for 2002 2005, the Millennium Declaration and decisions taken at major international conferences.
