Promoting Democracy in the Greater Middle East

Implementation of resolution 1455 has been strengthened in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

So, in my view, true democracy is the only alternative, because it is realistic and promotes peace.

For its part, the US has sponsored a number of specific actions to promote democracy and good governance in the region.

I will also look for practical ways in which the Organization can strengthen its humanitarian and development work in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

That is why their presence is necessary in consolidating democratic institutions, in strengthening gender justice and in legislative debate.

Like Togo and Guinea Bissau, Burundi will need special assistance to be able to consolidate its reconciliation and democracy.
