The government, headed by the prime minister, thus represents the political leadership of the country and makes decisions in the name of the whole executive power.

The Executive Committee of the Multilateral Fund is responsible for the review and approval of projects and makes decisions on the disbursement of funds.

The fundamental characteristic of the operational activities contained in resolutions 44 211, 47 199 and 48 162 were reaffirmed.

In other words, the COP MOP will usually act on the information placed before it by the Executive Board and if a third party considers that such information prejudices them, the chances of claims against the individuals who recommended such decisions or actions may increase.

Care should nevertheless be taken not to undermine the constructive operational decision making mechanism of that extremely important organ.

The operational decision making and coordinating body, the so called Operative Committee OPC, was subsequently established in 1998 with participation from law enforcement authorities from all CBSS countries.

Advocacy activities for gender mainstreaming have also been conducted to increase the awareness and obtain the support of decision makers in the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government.

Henceforward, all the decisions adopted should be implemented, so as to enable the United Nations to carry out effectively and efficiently its policies and programme of operational activities.

(c) Significant steps taken by UNDP to follow up resolutions and decisions adopted by the General Assembly and by other organs and organizations of the United Nations system, especially resolutions dealing with operational activities for development of the United Nations system.

Many important decisions and conclusions adopted during the last session of the Executive Committee of the Programme of UNHCR would contribute towards strengthening global cooperation on protection and assistance.

While continuing with that task, the Counter Terrorism Committee, through its new Executive Directorate, should also make visits to selected States, with their consent, to monitor implementation of the relevant resolutions.

To allow the Chief of Staff more time to focus on following up decisions, and ensure coordinated functioning of the Deputy Executive Directors and other senior staff in OED and the efficient management of the office, a post of Senior Executive Officer at P 5 level is also proposed.
