No person may be detained solely on the basis of race, colour, national origin, ethnicity or religion.

The most frequent grounds of discrimination in these complaints were disability, sex, race, colour or ethnic or national origin, as well as age.

The Committee invites the State party to verify whether third generation tests exist and to ensure the right to work without discrimination based on national or ethnic origin.

The Committee reiterates that States parties should ensure that immigration policies do not have the effect of discriminating against persons on the basis of race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin.

The Committee recommended that the State party should ensure that everyone, without distinction as to race, colour, or national or ethnic origin, enjoyed the rights to work and to health and social security, adequate housing and education.
