But this work is not being carried out only at the national level regional fisheries management organizations are also addressing this important issue.

This would require strengthening the Department of Political Affairs through the establishment of a focal point which would plan and organize meetings between the United Nations and regional organizations.

Regional organizations play an important role in the management of responsible and ecologically sustainable fishing, especially in areas where no management regime currently exists.

The regional offices of FDA are open, but staff complain about the lack of transportation, which hinders their ability to manage the forests.

This mechanism aims to monitor and evaluate progress made with the NAPs and SRAPs, to improve the synergy of the management of shared water resources, and to advance the management of environmental information better to aid decision making.

In this context, we collectively aim to build our continent's capacity to manage these conflicts by strengthening our regional and subregional institutions to deal with conflict prevention, as well as by combating illicit proliferation of small arms and light weapons.
