I should like to commend the Third Committee for its excellent work.

At the outset, I commend you for convening today's debate on such an important issue, and I thank you for the stimulating document (S 2005 316, annex) that you have circulated as a basis for discussion.

I count approximately 80 delegations present, and I commend those that have been here so faithfully.

I commend draft resolution A 60 L.8 for adoption by the General Assembly.

I commend the constructive stance by the new Iraqi authorities in this humanitarian matter.

And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

I would also like to commend the Secretariat for its efforts in producing the report.

I commend the resolve that Council members are showing through the presidential statement under consideration today.

The Group wishes to commend you for your commitment to an open, transparent and inclusive process.

I commend the Liberian people for coming out in large numbers to exercise their right to vote.

In that connection, I would like to commend the efforts of NGOs to halt the social crisis.

I commend the very helpful non paper distributed by the Danish Permanent Mission on that important issue.

In that regard, I particularly commend the delegation of Togo for its most faithful participation in the discussions.

I particularly commend the Panel for rooting its work in the realities of the lives of the poor.

I would like to commend UNAMSIL for the efficient security provided to the site of the Special Court.

We commend him for that.

Are we beginning again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as do some, letters of commendation to you or from you?

Having said that, I respectfully commend the reports of the Third Committee to the General Assembly for its consideration.

First, we wish to commend you for the thoughtful and most diligent manner in which you are carrying out your duties as President.

I commend The Co Chairpersons for the work carried out under their leadership, and I express the hope that the present reforms will be implemented.

In addition, I commend the Secretary General for his leadership, especially in advancing the United Nations reform and revitalization agenda.

I note that Australia's broad interpretation of peacebuilding is based on sound precedent that we would commend to all States.

Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?

We commend you, Mr. Chairman, for your efforts to ensure respect for that resolution and for the discipline which you are maintaining in our proceedings.

I commend the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and Mr. Egeland for the active role that they have played.

I would like to commend the determination of the Timorese people and their leaders to consolidate a democratic and viable State.

In that regard, I cannot fail to commend that special initiative, the Action Against Hunger and Poverty, and its sponsoring States.

I further commend His Excellency Mr. Kofi Annan, our Secretary General, for the dynamic and sterling leadership of the United Nations.

I commend the Special Committee for its hard work, and offer all the participants in this seminar my best wishes for success.

These developments are eloquent affirmations of the value of draft resolution A 60 L.4, which I commend for adoption by consensus.

On behalf of the Group of 77 and China, I commend the draft resolution to the General Assembly for adoption by consensus.

I would like to commend the International Maritime Organization on a job well done, and I encourage all parties to sign and ratify the protocol as soon as possible.

May I take this opportunity to commend the National Council of Swedish Youth Organizations (LSU) for taking a bold initiative in that regard.

I would also like to commend the African Union for the leading role it has played in seeking peace in that troubled region.

I would also like to commend the mission in Côte d'Ivoire for its work to address the issue of sexual exploitation and abuse.

I take this opportunity to commend all countries that continue to make contributions to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

I commend Mr. Kofi Annan for his incisive report covering many aspects of United Nations and international affairs, including the Millennium Development Goals.
