The Customs Administration is a member of the World Customs Organization (WCO) and has been implementing the Convention on the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System since 25 September 1993.

This Code is regularly updated in the light of the International Convention on the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System, codified by the World Customs Organization

During the period under review, UNCTAD held a number of commodity related meetings under its auspices.

In some of these systems (e.g. in Bolivia and Paraguay's electronic customs registry) the customs brokers have to enter the import license number before completing the import declaration form.
