Primary education enrolment is over 91.5 per cent.

Gross enrolment in primary schools now averages 99 per cent.

Through that programme, the enrolment of pupils in primary schools increased tremendously.

Primary school enrolment in Kenya has also increased tremendously due to the implementation of free primary education programmes in the last two years.

Within a decade, the primary school enrolment rate had more than doubled to 70 per cent.

Bangladesh had the highest primary school enrolment rates in the developing world and had already achieved gender parity in both primary and secondary schools.

Sixthly, we have had laudable successes in key social sectors. Bangladesh has one of the highest primary school enrolment rates in the developing world. Most importantly, we have achieved gender parity in enrolment at the primary and lower secondary levels.

In Kuwait, there was a high literacy and school enrolment rate for girls and women, who represented more than 50 per cent of primary and secondary school enrolment, and more than 37 per cent of enrolment at the university level.

The Committee notes with concern, however, the very low enrolment of children in pre school and primary school and the even lower enrolment in secondary school, in particular of girls.

Such programmes contribute to higher primary school enrolment and completion rates, and to the retention of female teachers.

Consequently, it had already achieved the Goal for primary education, with a net enrolment of 98.3 per cent.

(b) Continue to strengthen measures aimed at increasing enrolment rates in primary and basic education, in particular for girls

Even given the paucity of resources, the gross enrolment rate in primary education in 2004 was 97 per cent.

Over the past decade an increase in net enrolment in primary education has been achieved, and in 2001 almost 90 per cent of children were enrolled in primary schools.

The highest enrolment rate is in pre primary education and vocational education has the highest drop out rate (Figure 30).

The gross enrolment rate at the primary level of urban females was 87 while that of rural females was 52.

Also, there are 1,306 Public Daycare Centres with a capacity for 78,000 children (aged from 2 ½ years to their enrolment to primary school) and 132 Daycare Centres for infants and children, with a capacity of 10,000 children, aged from 8 months to their age of enrolment to primary school.

The 2004 2007 Education Plan therefore aims to achieve a net enrolment rate of 75 per cent at the pre primary and 100 per cent at the primary school level.

The enrolment rates for girls in primary schools has been increasing from 46 per cent in 1992 to 48 in 2002.

Millions of children will be beyond the age of primary school enrolment when the necessary financial support for education is delivered.

While a significant campaign to increase primary school enrolment has raised the enrolment of girls to almost 40 per cent, compared to 67 per cent for boys, overall school enrolment among girls remains among the lowest in the world, with less than 10 per cent of girls enrolled in secondary school.

Another modest achievement thus far worth mentioning is the introduction of free primary education in the country, which we hope will increase enrolment.

(a) Continue to strengthen measures aimed at increasing enrolment rates in primary and secondary education, in particular with regard to early childhood education

Primary school enrolment had increased to 86 per cent in the 2003 04 academic year although some gender disparity still existed, with enrolment rates for girls and boys being 83 per cent and 89 per cent respectively in 2003 2004.

During the 2003 2004 school year, the net primary enrolment rate was 94.4 per cent, while the completion rate rose to 99.82 per cent.

A significant push to increase primary school enrolments has raised the enrolment of boys to 67 per cent and girls to almost 40 per cent.

Analysis by region revealed that most of the countries in each region were able to provide enrolment data by sex for primary and secondary education.

(e) To increase enrolment rates and reduce repetition and dropout rates and ensure that all children have effective access to primary education free of charge

In the area of ensuring education for all, according to our estimates, by 2015, net enrolment in primary level education will be 84.5 per cent.

However, these figures are very low compared with primary school enrolment rates, particularly in the north and north west (regions with predominantly indigenous populations) where enrolment in the basic and specialized cycles is below 15 per cent and 10 per cent, respectively.

We have performed beyond the targets set in the following areas the provision of safe drinking water primary school enrolment HIV AIDS and reducing poverty levels.

Since 1991 enrolment of girls in primary education has reached 48 per cent matching the ratio of boys to girls in the general population at that age.

The Committee notes the State party's efforts to increase enrolment rates, both in primary and secondary education, through the national programmes spelled out in the Education Act.

Please provide information on the percentage of enrolment of girls and boys in the primary school and drop out rates respectively, both in urban and rural areas.

Boasting universal literacy and 100 per cent official enrolment, the DPRK has successfully established an extensive primary and secondary school system as well as institutions for higher learning.

There is no major difference in the number of female and male enrolment in primary school in both public and private sectors during the last 10 years (1993 2002).

Enrolment in secondary schools is made on the basis of an open competition and enrolment a qualification exam in June and an additional August enrolment term.

Low school enrolment rates.

In the field of education, Paraguay has significantly reduced illiteracy and increased school enrolment, and will continue to reduce the deficit in and improve the quality of basic and primary education.

We removed school fees for primary education, and the net enrolment rate increased from 58.8 per cent in 2000 to 90.5 per cent last year and gender parity has been attained.

Current enrolment stands at 437.

Total female enrolment is 310,345 (70.8 ).

Female enrolment in middle school and high school rose considerably between 1994 and 1998 but remained significantly lower than male enrolment.

Female enrolment is more than 50 percent.
