In September 2005, the states in the UN General Assembly accepted the existence of a responsibility to protect vulnerable peoples.

We therefore strongly endorse the proposal to bring before the Assembly a final draft declaration on the rights of indigenous peoples.

The Committee notes with satisfaction that indigenous peoples are represented in the National Assembly, which has at least three indigenous deputies with their respective alternates, elected by indigenous peoples in keeping with their traditions and customs.

I would like to draw the attention of the Assembly to several issues of concern to the peoples of the world, especially young people.
