The effectiveness of import licensing and prevention of illegal imports of ODS is highly dependent on the ability of customs officers to apply the regulations in force and to identify illegal shipments of refrigerants.

In the area of clearance of landmines and explosive remnants of war, the United Nations had bolstered its support to Member States for technical surveying, mapping, marking, clearance, post clearance documentation, community liaison and the handover of cleared land.
