In accordance with established practice, the Committee would meet with representatives of non governmental organizations (NGOs) and entities of the United Nations to receive information about the reporting States.

Sources of data collection (independent entities, government entities, NGOs)

NGOs have also promoted public awareness by establishing regional branches for outreach assisting in gender training for experts and staff of Government and non governmental entities and providing advisory services.

Such entities may be either stand alone or multipurpose operational entities.

States, entities of the United Nations system, non governmental organizations, civil society, researchers and individual women are using this framework for preventing and responding to violence against women and for enhancing accountability.

Human rights observers have documented several cases of survivors, their family members and community leaders who came forward to seek justice only to face serious problems, including intimidation by various governmental entities.

(c) The above arrangements concerning participation of non governmental organizations and business sector entities in the High Level Dialogue will in no way create a precedent for other meetings of the General Assembly

States, entities of the United Nations system, non governmental organizations and other stakeholders at the national, regional and global levels have undertaken a broad range of efforts to prevent and combat violence against women.

In conjunction with this expert consultation, the Division also organized an interactive panel on the priority issues identified by the regional networks, with participation of Member States, United Nations entities and non governmental organizations.

The study will draw from the information available from Member States, entities of the United Nations system and non governmental organizations, and will also draw from the extensive research and literature available on the topic.

It brought together some 4,000 people from interested public and private entities from around the world, with participants from 168 States, 78 observer bodies, 161 non governmental organizations and 562 journalists representing 152 media organizations.

Informal consultations open to all Members States, entities of the United Nations system, non governmental organizations and experts in the field were held in New York and Geneva, respectively, on 1 and 8 July 2005.

5. Encourages the establishment of institutional linkages at the national level between national machineries for the advancement of women and those governmental entities responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of ageing related policies and programmes

Some delegations expressed the view that the United Nations treaties on outer space established a coherent and useful framework for increasingly widespread and complex activities in outer space carried out by both governmental and private entities.

The data are hosted by the UNOSAT service and accessible to all entities (United Nations, Governments, non governmental organizations and universities) involved in work related to the international response to the countries affected by the tsunami.

A Task Force comprising representatives of entities of the United Nations system and non governmental organizations, including regional networks, serves as the main conduit for information exchange and for channelling information, comments and suggestions to the Secretariat.

Collaboration by United Nations entities

The Millennium Campaign has been mobilizing and reinforcing political support for the Millennium Declaration by working with parliamentary networks, local authorities, the media, faith based organizations, youth organizations, the business sector, non governmental organizations (NGOs) and other entities.

Further regional consultations would be held in the first semester of 2005 and their outcome would depend on the degree of participation of governments, parliamentarians, non governmental organizations (NGOs) and other civil society entities, particularly human rights organizations.

Discussions and exchanges of views concerning the study and its key issues and recommendations will also be organized in conjunction with events organized by other entities, such as academic meetings, forums of non governmental organizations and Government sponsored conferences.

The process included the constitution of a task force comprising United Nations and non governmental entities, and of a high level advisory committee a series of consultations with different stakeholders and two expert group meetings, held earlier in 2005.

A large number of non governmental organizations, as well as research institutes and other entities dealing with water issues, have indicated interest in preparing and organizing activities related to the International Water for Life Decade and using its logo.
