At United Nations Headquarters, the Non Governmental Organizations Section of the Department of Public Information hosted a half day event organized by the NGO Committee on Ageing in cooperation with the Department of Economic and Social Affairs and attended by some 500 people.

The department was created to scrutinize all the efforts and activities on the part of Government agencies and non governmental organizations in Malaysia and to formulate strategies and recommendations aimed at reducing road traffic accidents.

In addition, non conference servicing requirements would be needed to allow the Department for Disarmament Affairs to provide the necessary substantive services to the sessions of the group of governmental experts in 2009 and 2010.
