Since its entry into force in 1995, several members have notified the organization of new regulations, including labelling requirements, to indicate potential presence of genetically modified ingredients.

Instructions concerning the required labelling of hazardous or explosive materials during transport have also been issued.

B Work of the Committee regarding the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals

In response to General Assembly resolution 59 283 (paras. 47 50), the Secretary General proposes under section 28A, Office of the Under Secretary General for Management, additional resources in the amount of 1,060,500 related to requirements for the redesign panel and supplementary support requirements.

The Council endorsed the decision of the Secretary General to approve the application of Zambia for membership in the Subcommittee of Experts on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS Subcommittee).

The reduction in non post resources relates largely to the reduction in general temporary assistance owing to reduced requirements.

The Commission would advise the General Assembly, through the Secretariat, on its requirements for conference facilities for the sessions.

Any additional requirements arising from the decisions of the General Assembly would be considered in accordance with established procedures.

In practice, governments often propose regulations mandating general minimum standards or specific requirements for certain industries or government suppliers.

The growth represents the additional requirements under general temporary assistance for the additional staffing positions described in paragraph 1.13.
