Meeting with the Special Adviser to the Secretary General on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women

Other issues related to methods of work were also discussed, including non reporting, early warning and urgent action procedures, lists of issues, and joint general comments and recommendations.

The issue of the reform of the Security Council continues to be among those issues addressed at the annual general debate of the General Assembly.

Recommendations of ACABQ, as approved by the General Assembly, and General Assembly resolutions on individual missions and cross cutting issues should be implemented without delay.

The Working Group's deliberations on general issues of sanctions in 2005 coincided with the work on the 2005 World Summit Outcome, which also touches upon issues related to sanctions.

At present, the General Assembly addresses a broad agenda covering a wide range of often overlapping issues.

The Secretary General has addressed many issues that are critical to the future of our world's citizens.

Pakistan commends the Secretary General for his consistent efforts to provide and promote solutions to those issues.

The gender sensitive presentation of issues in documentation before the General Assembly facilitates gender sensitive policy formulation.

General Security covers areas related to foreigners, passports and borders, in addition to politically based security issues.

8. Requests the Secretary General to report to the General Assembly at its fifty eighth session on these issues, including the consideration of the Security Council

(i) Representation of the Secretary General and the Director General on administrative and financial issues at meetings of the United Nations intergovernmental bodies held in Nairobi

In expected accomplishment (a), replace on priority issues with in accordance with priorities established by the General Assembly .

The Advisory Committee should address such issues in accordance with the letter of the relevant General Assembly resolutions.

Most of the issues raised were general grievances that could be raised by almost any community in Kenya.

The Movement's positions concerning issues are adopted by decisions of the General Assembly, which meets every four years.

(c) Issues seen as particular to the indigenous context, even if they contained elements of more general application.

Rachel Mayanja, Assistant Secretary General and Special Adviser to the Secretary General on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women, who acted as temporary Chairperson, opened the session.

Participants discussed the possibility of issuing joint general comments recommendations on issues of common concern, and agreed that these would strengthen the role of the general comments.

The General Assembly, the Secretary General and the subsidiary bodies of the Economic and Social Council may propose, through the Council, issues for consideration by the Committee.

The Under Secretary General is assisted by the Assistant Secretary General for Policy Coordination and Inter Agency Affairs, the Assistant Secretary General for Economic Development and the Assistant Secretary General and Special Adviser to the Secretary General on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women.

Ms. Mayanja (Special Adviser to the Secretary General on Gender Issues and the Advancement of Women) said she welcomed the opportunity for a dialogue and review of common issues with the Committee.

74. Requests the Secretary General to fill one P 3 post for the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues expeditiously

The inter committee meeting agreed that treaty bodies could consider drafting joint general comments on issues of common concern.
