The Customs Act applies civil and criminal penalties to breaches of export controls.

Australian export controls are primarily enabled under the Customs Act 1901 and executed through the Regulation 13E of the Customs (Prohibited Exports) Regulations 1958.

The Islamic Republic of Iran's Customs Administration implements the state laws and regulations on export import in accordance with the Export Import Regulations Code and its annexed tariff table.

National training programmes for customs officers implemented by UNEP are using a Country Handbook on ODS Legislation and Import Export Licensing System, in addition to the Training Manual for Customs Officers developed by UNEP.

In cases of import, export and transit of firearms it is absolutely necessary the presentation of a special licence to Customs Services.

Goods for import or export are checked by the customs authorities, which sometimes, when doubt exists, receive information from the security authorities.

Export of any foreign currency exceeding the amount equal to 10.000 US dollars from the customs territory of the Republic of Armenia is prohibited.

Risk assessment principles have been incorporated in the Regulation on Import and Export of Firearms, Ammunition, Explosive Articles and Fireworks and Imitation of Firearms of the Customs Department, which details all customs procedures and requirements (see question 9).

The Customs Department has a mechanism in place to verify the licenses and other official documents relating to the import, export or transit of firearms.

According to the Customs Law, adopted in 1971, the Customs Administration is the responsible body to monitor and control import and export of all materials, equipment and goods through borders which are subject to monitoring in accordance with existing laws, regulations and procedures

(1.9) Customs and security authorities cooperate closely in verifying the authenticity of licences and other official documents in relation to the import, export and transit of firearms.

2.8.a As for import and export control operations, Act No. 20 (1998), on Customs, empowers customs officers to inspect persons, ships and merchandise, and confers on them the status of judicial police officers with the authority to investigate offences against customs regulations and to impound merchandise. (a) Forging customs declaration forms or shipping documents are the most frequent customs offences.

This includes the compurterisation of most customs work, such as the electronic transfer of information, import and export protocols using EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), e payment for taxes and duties, and e manifest for electronic information transfer.

This group has developed a Framework of Standards for security and facilitation, which describes the detailed arrangements for Customs to Customs and Customs to business cooperation.

Similarly the customs department has instituted a computerized program known as the automated system for customs data (ASYCUDA), which integrates customs and clearing and forwarding activities.

A successful export strategy hinges not on how much countries export, but on what they export and how their export sectors are integrated with other domestic economic activities.

Since 15 November 2004, no licence application to export the goods in question to Côte d'Ivoire was submitted to the Commission, nor have there been reports from the Customs Board of any violations concerning exports to Côte d'Ivoire.
